Finding the Right Words
Robin Rapport loves words. The right words. She can help you say exactly what you mean. She knows how to put power behind your messages. Robin can help you find the right medium – and the right market -- for your message.
Robin’s unique background makes her perfect for the task. Prior to founding Rapport Communications in 1993, Robin spent nine years at what some say is an impossible feat – improving the image of a major health insurer at a time when the entire health care field was in a murky turmoil. There, she wrote and produced internal and external communications, specializing in marketing and sales communications, managed care, pharmaceuticals, HMOs and traditional coverage. She also was the communications consultant for National Accounts.
Robin excelled writing everything from product brochures to corporate handbooks, from paycheck stuffers to human resource manuals, from direct mail pieces to Annual Reports, and from health care provider and consumer materials to entire health education campaigns. Plus, her work was linked to increased revenue. Whatever you can imagine a corporation needs, she wrote it for Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield (who, by the way, later became a Rapport Communications client!).
A Diverse Background for Success
In addition, Robin has served as a staff writer for New Jersey Medicine, the magazine of the NJ Medical Society, where she wrote and researched numerous articles ranging from specific illnesses to the state of the medical profession. She also has developed sales training materials for pharmaceutical sales reps. She has written Continuing Medical Education (CME) materials for medical providers. She has created newsletters and websites for health care consumers, and much more.
Her expertise, however, is not limited to health care communication. She has used her skills to design and implement marketing campaigns, MarCom materials, public relations, and special events for businesses and products in a variety of other industries.
What’s more, Robin’s expertise spans many media forms including writing for print, radio and TV, casting for film and commercials, directing and more. For example, in addition to making storyboards and scripts for commercials, she was Associate Producer of a national Live TV show (Atlantic City Alive on WTBS). Her hands-on media experience brings added depth to Robin’s abilities to oversee her client’s complete communications needs.
To top it off, Robin was the recipient of the prestigious Herman Lehman Graduate Fellowship, based on her research and writing in the fields of social sciences and wellness. Combine this with her advanced degree in Media Ecology from New York University, and her undergraduate degrees in both Social Anthropology and Visual and Performing Arts (Syracuse University), and you’ll see why Robin sees communications as an art form.
Putting It All Together
Robin built Rapport Communications on her passion for people, cultures and communication, on her expertise in the health and medical field, and on her understanding of today’s marketing communication challenges. This unique skill set has helped her company thrive, making Rapport Communications sought after by pharmaceutical companies, health care companies, academia, corporations, and technology firms, alike.

High-Intensity Marketing
Greg Rapport spent 18 years in publishing before joining Rapport Communications. He began his career with The Village Voice and was quickly promoted to management at New York Magazine. He increased sales dramatically at New York Magazine and the New York publishing community took notice. He became sought after as a sales and marketing expert.
In 1985, he made the jump into high tech publishing as Group Telemarketing Director for four Scholastic Publications: Home Office Computing, Electronic Learning, Teaching and Computers and Forecast.
Over the years, Rapport watched the computer industry evolve from the Apple IIC and 256K hard drives to 8U rackmounts and terabytes of storage. And through it all, he was as much a student as he was an expert.
Rapport learned the computer industry from the ground up. He learned marketing methods that work. He also took the time to attend all the training he could find. He studied the McGraw-Hill selling program, the Dale Carnegie method, the Consultative Method and more. He studied with great masters of marketing, John Evans, Ben Bissel, Paul Reiss, Dave Hagenback, and Cathy Edwards to name a few. He has also done extensive public speaking on topics of sales training, marketing, strategic positioning, advertising and media relations.
Through the late 1980’s and early 1990’s, Rapport worked on magazines like Atari Explorer and one of the first Internet magazines Genie LiveWire. LiveWire was the mouthpiece of General Electric when they launched their online division called GE Information Services to compete with CompuServe.
In 1995, Rapport honed his understanding of the Document Management arena while working for Imaging Magazine. In 1999, he plunged into telecommunications with Computer Telephony Magazine.
Since he’s been with Rapport Communications, Rapport extended his knowledge to the Pharmaceutical industry. Utilizing his expertise in sales training, Rapport has participated in programs designed to help Pharmaceutical companies and Healthcare Practitioners market their products and services. He has also helped write the manuals and seminar guides that Sales Trainers use to teach others.
In short, Rapport is a dynamic combination of creativity and marketing savvy. He brings 18 years of marketing experience to your project. He brings an understanding of your market to the table. And he brings an intense desire to help you succeed.
